Arborland Montessori Private School – Principal’s welcome letter for 2010-2011 school year

Arborland Montessori Private School Fullerton
August 30, 2010
Dear Parents,
As I write to you and welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year, my heart is full of appreciation for the dedication of so many in our Arborland family. We work hard to remain fresh and dynamic and constantly search to improve ways we serve our community. I would like to share some thoughts on enhancement being introduced this year.
In order to have more instructional time to work with your child, we have totally eliminated minimum days from our school calendar. There are no “minimum Wednesdays”. In addition, there will be no half days during the parent teacher conference week. This idea has been introduced by our teachers voluntarily, so your child will not lose any instructional time. The parent teacher conferences will be spread over two weeks and held after school. This is done to make it easier on you to schedule appointments, and also benefit the children who will get more time with their teacher.
In an effort to go green and save trees, we intend to eliminate paper notices as much as possible. All information will be sent to you via email, and will be posted on our website and school bulletin board. If you do not receive email from us, we probably do not have your accurate email address. Please inform us by sending an email to arborlandschool@sbcglobal.net and specify your name, your child’s name, and his teacher’s name. With email contact, both parents will receive information at the same time regardless of who is picking up the child.
We are pleased to announce that our recently made marketing video is also available for your review on our website. Please visit http://www.arborland.com regularly for announcements and updated information. Teacher announcements, Parent’s Handbook, fieldtrip consent forms, and lunch menu will all be posted on our website. If you still prefer to have hard copies, please obtain one from our office. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts at making Arborland a green school.
Communication with your child’s teacher is extremely important and should be ongoing throughout the year. The best way to get in touch with your child’s teacher is via email or a note in the school’s mailbox. All our teachers have an Arborland email address and check their email daily. If the matter requires immediate attention, please phone us. It is of prime importance that your concerns are addressed without delay.
It is our belief that parental involvement will directly benefit your child’s education. I am thrilled to be a part of this school and encourage you to be involved in all our school events. This year, we hope to increase parental involvement and receive feedback from you. Our newly designed questionnaires are available in the office and your input is very much appreciated. Together, we are looking forward to raising content and confident learners.

Parking Lot Safety

Parking can be a challenge during drop off and dismissal time. Please follow the one way parking lot rule and give yourself plenty of time to walk. Since there are many young children walking in the parking lot, please slow down and be extremely careful when you drive in and out of parking lot. The young children are hard to see through the rear mirror. Please be sure to hold your child’s hand when you walk in the parking lot. Please do not block any cars. Street parking is acceptable and welcome.

On-Time Arrival and Pick-Up

Please be reminded that late arrival and early pick-up interfere with the children’s precious work time. Please bring your child to school within 30 minutes before school starts and pick your child up within 15 minutes after class dismissal. Please do not enter the classroom when the Montessori class is in session. We would like to create a comfortable environment for the children and minimize any interruptions. It is certainly to your child’s advantage that he/she arrives during morning play time to socialize with other children, warm up for the day, and get ready for class. Similarly, it is also to your child’s advantage to stay until dismissal time so that he/she does not miss out on any valuable instruction by the teacher. In the rare event that you need to pick up your child early, please come to the office. Our administration staff will assist you.

Please remember to mark your calendar for important school events. I look forward to working with you and your child.

Sincerely,

Sueling Chen, MBA, Ed.D.
Principal
